Cool, soft, and comfortable
Durable. Stands up to abrasions and wears well.
Absorbs and releases perspiration quickly, allowing fabric to breathe.
Can be restored to a clear white with chlorine bleach (but this bleach may yellow chemically finished cottons).
100% cotton may need to be ironed to look good.
Characteristics of Poly Cotton:
Cool, soft and comfortable.
Durable. Wears well.
Not as breathable as 100% cotton
Use bleach carefully according to label.
May be ironed but generally not required.
Cotton Sateen has a finish to give it a slight sheen.
Characteristics of Polyester:
Strong
Resistant to stretching and shrinking
Resistant to most chemicals
Quick drying
Crisp and resistent when wet or dry
Wrinkle resistent
Mildew resistent
Abrasion resistent
Retains heat-set pleats and creases
Easily washed.
Characteristics of Silk:
off white in color
The most luxurious
Comfortable
The Most absorbant (except for wool)

Must be dry cleaned

Dupioni silk has heavier than shantung silk. It drapes better and holds it's shape so is ideal for certain styles. Shantung is better for other styles that require a softer look. All silk has flubs that may appear to be defects. These are a natural part of silk fabric and cannot be removed.
Polyester shantung: Made to look and feel like silk but is white in color and easier to care for.
